The new Eco-design for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR), adopted by the European Union on April 23, 2024 and in force since July 18, 2024, is now the prevailing regulation in Europe for environmental labelling, and is de facto binding on all member states.
Imposing eco-design requirements and a digital passport concept for all products sold on the European Union market, defined according to a methodological reference system harmonized at European level (the PEF method), the ESPR applies to all major consumer product sectors, first and foremost the fashion sector, considered a priority.
As the European Commission, and not the EU Member States themselves, sets the evaluation standards for each product category covered by this single methodological framework, no other method for evaluating the environmental footprint of products, and therefore for environmental labelling, defined at national level, will now have any legal basis.
The PEF method is therefore now the sole reference framework for the application of the ESPR according to the sectoral standards to be defined by the EC. For the clothing and footwear sector, the European Commission has commissioned the development of a dedicated sectoral reference framework, the “PEFCR Apparel & footwear”, with contributions from players in the sector, which was completed last June and validated by the European Commission in April 2025.
Because the ecological transition can't wait any longer, and to enable everyone to implement eco-design and environmental labelling initiatives that comply with the requirements of this new regulation, we've designed this application for you, which will reveal the PEF score of your collections, free of charge. It will also help you to understand the factors behind it, and above all to identify the right levers for reducing it.
This free application is limited to calculating the PEF environmental score, but those who want to go further can upgrade to the fully-featured Glimpact platform.

The European Global Impact Score application calculates the PEF score according to the requirements of PEFCR Apparel & Footwear. It should be noted that this standard provides for the calculation of an additional indicator designed to measure the impact of microfibers generated by garments during the use phase. As this indicator requires databases that are not yet available, it is not proposed here in the European Global Impact Score application. Please note that this indicator provides additional information and is not included in the PEF score calculated by the application. Glimpact will integrate this indicator as soon as the necessary elements are available.
