The Glimpact platform is based on the PEF/OEF methodological framework adopted as a reference by the European Union. These methods are based on a scientific and rigorous approach to life-cycle analysis, to accurately assess the overall environmental footprint of products and organizations. This framework requires all components of the environmental crisis to be taken into account, not just greenhouse gas emissions. Defining the environmental footprint according to the 16 categories of environmental impact of human activity on the planet, allows the notion of exceeding the 9 planetary limits to be taken into account (a concept defined by the Stockholm Resilience Center and now recognized by the EU and the United Nations). The methodological framework of PEF/OEF methods is now defined as the reference framework in the new regulations adopted by the EU as part of the European Green Deal. This is particularly true of the CSRD directive on extra-financial reporting, which recommends the OEF method for fulfilling environmental reporting requirements, as well as the new Eco-Design Regulation (ESPR), which imposes eco-design requirements defined by the European Commission on the basis of evaluation benchmarks based on the PEF method, as well as the concept of a digital passport for all products distributed within the EU, which must include a declaration of their environmental footprint calculated according to the same benchmark.
Built according to the most innovative architecture, integrating the latest advances in web and Big Data technologies, as well as the most comprehensive secondary databases, and conforming to the format requirements defined by the European Commission (EF 3.1 package, and soon EF 4. 1 and later), Glimpact technology, with its unique calculation engine, natively models the concepts of PEF and OEF methods, making them accessible to all players in the form of a digital platform and through a wide range of concrete applications, deployable on a large scale, in terms of analyzing and reducing the environmental footprint of products and organizations.
